Sometimes growth can be difficult

Maybe you feel like cutting your losses.

You don't want to fight all the time, with your child, with yourself.

That may work in the short term, but it keeps them from doing what they're meant to do, with their work, with their lives!  The next generation of problem solvers have been let down by our current education system.  Someone has to step up and show that learning is still possible for everyone.

Learning always requires some effort.  The question is whether that effort is enjoyable.  And it can be.

What does it take to improve learning?

A lot of companies teach tricks and hacks.  They say they're going to solve your learning problems for you.

I know from experience that tricks rarely work, and they're the only ones that can solve their problems.   But they may need help understanding how to do that.

So we work on key principles like

  • Assessing what they do well and what they need to improve
  • Determining the most important task to work on right now.
  • Problem-solving the big picture for improvement

We learn how to apply them to their situation.  The goal is to make them independent, confident and happy with their skills and abilities.

If you want to get the most out of your time, then I can help you.

How do I know I can help?

Because I was that kid.

I was a smart young man who made up his own computer games, read for fun, and drew pictures.  But by middle school I was failing math, and my high-school grades were never reflective of my powerful potential.

When I attended Oberlin College I continued to struggle as a learner.  I was able to get by, but avoided science and language studies just because I could.  Even my dreams of being a musician seemed out of reach because I couldn't focus.

I decided when I came home that I was going to get to the bottom of my learning difficulties.  Thirty years later I'm sharing what I discovered with you.

I understand myself, my strengths and weaknesses, and how to turn them into opportunities for improvement in the most efficient way possible.
